Assistant Controller
Fully Remote Role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. Our client is a full-service property management company whose purpose is to support an international panhellenic sorority and its collegiate chapters by ensuring the existence of competitive, safe and well managed chapter facilities. Our client currently manages 40-50 properties across the US and candidate and holds 8-chapter houses in their owned-property portfolio, which are both positioned to grow within this next year.
This Assistant Controller will be reporting directly to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. The Assistant Controller will assist with managing the Property Accounting team, which oversees the accounting functions for their owned and managed property portfolios, the preparation of financial statements, budget reports and internal control systems. This detail-oriented Assistant Controller must have exceptional accounting skills and knowledge of relevant industry regulations. An ideal candidate must be well organized, have excellent management skills, and have an exceptional client facing presence.

Responsibilities:
- Manages and restructures the property bookkeeping department for 1872 properties owned and managed portfolios.
- Supervises the property accounting team (3 full time property accountants, 1 part time property accountant)
- Prepare and consolidate financial statement and reports.
- Assist with development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports.
- Support formulation and implementation of control systems within organization
- Oversees billing, AR, AP and payroll.
- Support all aspects of accounting with aspects of the general ledger.
- Ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and assist with audits and tax filing for various properties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5-7 years of experience as accountant, assistant controller or similar
- Supervisory role in property/real estate management accounting is a plus.
- Strong supervisory and management skills
- QuickBooks and Sage Intacct Software preferred.
