About Us
Northern Nevada Legal Aid (NNLA), formerly known as Washoe Legal Services, is a distinguished 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1965. We are committed to providing access to justice for Northern Nevada’s most vulnerable populations, advocating for their rights, safety, and family stability. NNLA plays a vital role in supporting domestic violence victims, abused and neglected children, the indigent, the elderly, and immigrants facing crime and violence. NNLA’s purpose is to achieve justice for vulnerable populations, give voice to those who might otherwise not be heard, empower individuals to advocate for themselves, and make positive changes in the communities we serve. We provide access to justice (regardless of their ability to pay), to protect client rights, safety, and family stability through the expansion of access to legal justice in Northern Nevada.

Position Overview
Northern Nevada Legal Aid (NNLA) is seeking a part-time Child Advocacy Legal Assistant for our Yerington office. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional administrative and research skills and thrive under pressure while meeting strict deadlines. This position will work under the supervision of the Lyon County Child Advocacy Attorney.
Job Description: Part-Time Child Advocacy Legal Assistant
Location: Lyon County, Yerington, NV
Key Responsibilities
•Help with legal documents and reports.
•Keep track of records, both digital and paper.
•Create and organize office information.
•Update databases and tracking systems.
•Answer case-related questions and provide general support.
•Manage physical files and draft letters.
•Handle email and calendar tasks.
•Collect and organize documents for court matters.
•Set up physical files upon appointment, including collecting all prior filings.
•Conduct occasional legal research and prepare trial binders.
•Collect necessary documents for TPO matters from the police department, schools, etc.
•Participate in meetings with staff.
•Follow up on lawyers' post-court instructions.
Requirements
•Some experience in a legal setting is nice but not required.
•Valid driver’s license for commuting.
•Basic skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are helpful.
•Professional and patient with clients.
•Good communication and organization skills.
•Analytical thinker with research skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
