What You’ll Do
Administrative assistants (AAs) are an important part of every team at Oaklawn. They provide valuable support to staff, clients and outside organizations that keep our operations running smoothly. The hourly pay rate for the Administrative Assistant position is $13 - $15 per hour.
While there is a wide variety of AA positions at Oaklawn, most include:
- Answering phones and handling messages
- Making appointments and schedules
- Greeting and directing visitors and clients
- Providing administrative support for division staff and clients
- Operating office equipment (phone, fax, copier, computer, printer and dictation equipment)
- Maintaining files or records in an organized manner
- Processing mail and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Preparing supply orders as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Most AAs also interact frequently with clients, which may include adults facing serious mental illness and/or addiction, and children with mental health issues and their families. It is of utmost importance that our AAs help foster positive interactions with clients. AAs should be knowledgeable of stress management and conflict resolution techniques and be able to respond and communicate clearly in emergency situations. Paid training in these areas is available.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Office skills a must.
- Previous office experience preferred
- Bilingual skills a plus
