JOB TITLE: Civil Technician
JOB STATUS: Non -Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
The Civil Technician shall have in depth knowledge of civil (water and wastewater) infrastructure and construction to provide support and assistance for the Authority’s engineering staff on a wide variety of projects. These projects vary from installation of residential utility services to construction of large transmission infrastructure projects. The Civil Technician will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of engineering studies, infrastructure designs (construction plans and specifications), permits, construction estimates, utility mapping, utility locating, construction inspection, and administrative tasks.
This position includes field and office duties and requires sound technical knowledge with practical application to specific projects. Civil Technician may be required to respond to emergency situations after normal work hours.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma (or GED) is required with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, or geographic information systems is desired. Applicant should have a minimum of 3 years of experience with general construction, of which 1 year of experience should be specific to water and/or wastewater infrastructure construction. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet management, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and WaterCAD is preferred.
