Assoc. Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer science. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     St. Catherine of Siena Academy is seeking a qualified and dedicated Computer Science teacher to join our faculty.  The ideal candidate is eager and excited about teaching a creative and dynamic curriculum in a Catholic, faith-based environment.  The position requires a strong background and certification in a related field of study.
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher, with an up-to-date Michigan Teaching Certificate
    • Highly capable of teaching introductory and advanced classes
    • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience preferred
    • Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with all students, parents and school personnel
    • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills
     
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varied needs and interests
    • Flexibility and willingness to help in other areas of a dynamic high school environment
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
    • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
