Assoc. Professor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. The Mathematics Program within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is seeking an innovative Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses beginning in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. This position is a one-year appointment. The School of Sciences offers a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
- Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semester.
- Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
- Actively participate in recruitment and retention for the Mathematics degree program.
- Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have a earned a MS or PhD in Mathematics. Qualifications include:
- Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds
- Coursework and/or experience in Mathematics or related field
