The Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences at Wayne State University School of Medicine seeks an exemplary faculty member at any rank in the areas of ocular disease, neurosciences, and/or systems biology. Multi-disciplinary investigations of diabetic retinopathy, ocular infectious diseases, retinal cell signaling, artificial intelligence, optogenetics, and glaucoma are of interest. Work in health disparities is particularly encouraged, as well as publications in high-impact journals that are peer-reviewed.
Successful candidates are expected to develop and sustain a dynamic, externally funded research program and commit to excellence in graduate and medical education.
Train graduate students and
post-doctoral fellows.
Some teaching is expected in anatomy courses for undergraduate medical education, such as Histology, Cell Biology, Embryology, or Neuroscience.
Service is expected at the School, College, and University.
Service extramurally, such as the study section for NIH grant review, is also anticipated.
Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. and a
track record of research accomplishments
evidenced by external grant funding and high-impact publications.
If MD required must obtain
Michigan Medical License.
Faculty rank commensurate with credentials. Prefer multiple, extramurally funded active grants.
