Job Title: Sociology Work Study
Location: Marshalltown Community College
Department: Social Science Faculty
Job Classification: Student, non-exempt, hourly timesheet
Rate of Pay: $10.00/hour
Summary: The primary goal of this position is to aid and support the Sociology Faculty with course instruction and student success. The Teaching Assistant will report to assigned faculty members and provide support as designated. Teaching assistants may do a variety of tasks depending on the needs of the class and the faculty member you are assisting.
Job Duties:
- Attending lectures, taking notes, and tutoring students individually or in groups.
- Reviewing assignments and participating in online discussion groups.
- Keeping class attendance records and performing clerical tasks such as editing video transcriptions.
Abilities:
- Grade point average of at least 3.2.
- Completed the assigned course in a previous semester and earned a grade of a B or above. (Exceptions can be made for a student currently enrolled in the course, with the professor's permission).
Education and Experience: HS Diploma or equivalent
