To the right candidate we offer a salary between $65,000 and $165,000, 80% of health insurance paid (Employee Only Plan) and other benefits.
Responsibilities:
· Advocate for an appropriate evaluation to protect a child's rights and interests.
· Protect a child's rights to free, appropriate public education as they advance from one grade to another.
· Help ensure that a child with special needs is educated in the least restrictive environment.
· Help ensure a child's IEP is tailored according to your child's needs and advocate for necessary accommodations
· Provide legal representation to families of children with disabilities in matters related to special education law.
· Help parents thorough evaluations of their case to determine the best course of action.
· Represent clients in meetings, hearings, and other proceedings related to special education disputes.
Requirements:
· Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
· Admission to the NY state bar and in good standing.
· At least 3 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on special education or disability rights preferred.
· Strong understanding of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
