Position: Paraprofessional in the cooperative's special education classroom. The paraprofessional is expectedto assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, efficient, and highly functioning class environment which enhances the instructional program and uses multiple resource materials
Duties include: Assisting the Certified Teacher in preparing classroom materials, working with small groups of students to reinforce learning, assist individual children who need assistance in achieving their IEP goals and objectives, assist teachers with non-instructional classroom duties, assist with the supervision of students during lunch periods, assemblies, play periods and other activities, supervise lunchroom and playground activities as assigned, participate in professional development programs, help students with their clothing, assist with lunch, snack, and clean-up routines, assist with wash-up and toilet routines (which may include diapering), assist in collection of data, obtain and maintain appropriate certification in crisis intervention as directed by administration, maintain safe learning environment by enforcing all school and classroom expectations, maintain the same level of confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers, performs such tasks as may be assigned by the NPT Special Education Cooperative administration.
Qualifications: Valid Illinois State Paraprofessional certificate or a short-term approval for paraprofessionals while completing the requirements for the full license through the ISBE.
