Job DescriptionThe HEOP program is a $1.6 million sponsored program that serves the entire University. The associate director has substantial responsibility for this important program and considerable latitude in program implementation.
QualificationsA Master’s Degree is required with a minimum of three years experience in counseling; one year in Higher Education and one year experience in some supervisory capacity.
Job Specific Qualifications- Experience and qualifications in higher education, including counseling, advising, supervision, higher education administration, budgeting, and grant writing.
- Previous experience working in compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines.
Responsibilities- Assist the Director in supervising and coordinating the operational functions of HEOP.
- Assist in the identification, development and implementation of counseling procedures.
- Assist in the training and supervision of professional staff as designated.
- Manage the HEOP roster per semester in collaboration with the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid.
- Monitor admission process to ensure equitable access for the target student population.
- Assist with the annual budget development process and reporting.
- Assist with the New York State required reporting processes including the 5-year HEOP grant renewal.
- Monitor students applications and participation in international programs (SU Abroad).
