Responsibilities:

• Determine potential needs for upcoming season and create purchasing plans to obtain plants
• Manage plant inventory log, including price updates and availability of materials
• Communicate with teams/departments and be available to give advice and availability of plants
• Find cost savings across the board and work out discounts ahead of time with vendors, negotiating pricings and deals from brokers
• Oversee any holding yard(s) including the inventory location(s) and provides weekly availability to all sales/design teams.
• Oversee 2 or more in-house team members as role evolves.
• Works closely and reports to our Landscape Construction Manager.
• Work closely with Project Managers on schedules.
• Closely work with Designers on speculative buying.
• Stay up to date on trends and be in tune with the latest new plants, etc.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of plants and horticulture
• Strong computer knowledge including Excel and Aspire (preferred)
• Organized and demonstrated ability to look ahead for potential successes/issues
• Be able to build or already have a strong report with many nursery vendors we would buy from
• Strong negotiation skills
