Associate Chief Academic Officer oversees one or several areas within academic affairs programs. Provides academic vision and leadership. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Chief Medical Officer-Associate

  • Responsible for implementing strategy and for operational leadership, efficiency, value and utilization, medical staff oversight, and care experience initiatives. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer of Henry Ford Hospital.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1.       Ensures and promotes the delivery of high-quality care by providing clinical oversight of efficiency, effectiveness, utilization, innovation, and care experience initiatives.

    2.       In collaboration with Henry Ford Hospital CMO, Henry Ford Health CQO, Henry Ford Health CMO, Henry Ford Hospital ACQO, Director of Quality, the executive team, and other leaders, provides the support necessary to ensure that clinical services are provided in accordance with standards established through state and federal regulations, including the Joint Commission, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other relevant accreditation agencies.

    3.       Serves as liaison with the regulatory agencies and insurance companies on matters relating to physician performance, utilization, and medical necessity. 

    5.       Serves as an administrative liaison to the medical staff, officers, committee chairpersons, and physician leaders, and assists as necessary in managing medical staff affairs.

    7.       Principle responsibility for: development of annual goals and objectives focused on efficiency and utilization, development of performance indicators, conducting ongoing performance evaluations, monitoring follow-up activities for Hospital Medical Executive Committee (HMEC), and development and oversight of a common forum for the medical directors where issues (strategic and operational) are identified, prioritized, and resolved. 

    9.       Reviews and analyzes clinical data reporting used to drive clinical process improvement and identifies opportunities for process improvement. 

    11.   Represents the organization in the community by promotional or public relations efforts, particularly as they relate to medical services and professional relationships. 

    14.   Collaborates with responsible medical staff, to provide input on new patient care programs, medical equipment requests and selection of general medical supplies.

    15.   Promotes work that improves HFH’s position with external reputation scores, including, but not limited to US News and World Report, CMS Star ratings, and Leapfrog.

    16.   Keeps the CMO of HFH regularly informed of all medical staff affairs activities, problems, plans and issues, including quality of care, adequacy and quality of support staff, teaching programs and any other matter affecting patient care. 

    18. Provides clinical advice relative to coding inquiries for coding staff. Helps clarify documentation in medical records.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    ·       Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of a three (3) year U.S. residency program and must be board certified in their specialty.

    ·       Minimum of seven (7) years practicing as a physician.

    ·       Previous experience in utilization management, inpatient process improvement work, and/or oversight of clinical care models preferred.

     

     

     

     

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

    Michigan medical licensure and DEA, if required to practice in his/her specialty. Board certification in his/her specialty.
