Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Associate Dean of Law typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. - Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, and agreements
- Assist with case management and preparation for hearings and trials
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies
- Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
- Represent clients in court proceedings and administrative hearings
- Maintain accurate and organized case files
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar association
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Ability to write clear and concise legal documents
- Experience in negotiating and litigating cases is preferred
- Knowledge of legal administrative procedures and practices
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
