Associate Dean of Sciences assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of science. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Sciences provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Sciences typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Sciences typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. This position is responsible for working as a team member under direct supervision of a Crew Leader or Foreman. The work varies each day, but can include: vegetation management, weed removal, installing and maintaining plants, and installing and repairing irrigation systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Education and Essential Skills
Position requires consistently moving, walking, stooping and kneeling. Ability to push, pull, carry and lift over 50 pounds multiple times per day. Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements 8 to 10 hours per day. Frequently walking on uneven terrain. This can include heavy to moderate noise, close proximity to moving equipment or machinery. Exposure to materials, tools, herbicides and equipment used in construction and landscaping.
This position is a temporary position with variable hours. Temporary employees are those employed for short-term assignments. Schedules will vary from week to week based on project requirements. Position is not eligible for company benefits except as required by applicable law.
Proposed Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00 hourly*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
