Job Summary:
Higher Digital Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team remotely. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the administration and management of the Banner Systems (SIS, HR and Finance) and other Banner components and Ellucian products in a managed cloud environment for one of our clients. Additionally, the Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting current security, Single Sign On, Identity and Access Management, and email Systems, monitoring and maintaining Unix and Windows Systems, Oracle and SQL databases, and supporting the Google product suite.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary manager for the Systems administration of Banner Student Information Systems (SIS), HR, Finance and other Ellucian products in a managed cloud environment.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, goals, and challenges related to the Banner SIS, HR and Finance Systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels within the Banner Systems, ensuring compliance with security policies and data protection regulations.
- Perform Systems configuration, maintenance, and optimization of security, SSO, IAM, and email Systems, Unix and Windows servers, Oracle and SWL databases and Google product suite to meet client's specific needs and requirements.
- Monitor Systems performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure the reliability and availability of the Banner Systems and Ellucian products.
- Coordinate with the managed service provider to address technical issues, systems updates, and maintenance tasks related to the Banner Systems and other Ellucian products.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and new features/releases related to the Banner Systems and Ellucian products and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, gather feedback, and address any concerns or issues related to the Banner Systems and other Ellucian products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or site admin for Banner Systems.
- Strong understanding of Banner modules, functionalities, and integration points, particularly in a managed cloud environment.
- Proficiency in Systems configuration, customization, and troubleshooting within the Banner Systems.
- Skills and experience with: Unix, Microsoft Windows, Splunk, Oracle and SQL backups, Google Suite, LDAP, Shibboleth, Fischer Identity Services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with minimal supervision, while also being a collaborative team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Banner Systems certification or relevant professional certifications.
- Experience working with higher education institutions or in the education technology (EdTech) industry.
