Associate General Counsel is responsible for ensuring an organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Develops and reviews an organization's policies, practices, and guidelines. Being an Associate General Counsel assists in protecting an organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. Provides counsel to senior leadership. Additionally, Associate General Counsel identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance. Assists or represents the organization in business negotiations. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The Associate General Counsel manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be an Associate General Counsel typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. The attorney will work with the firm’s legal and non-legal professionals to provide clients with practical, innovative, and cost-effective solutions in the eDiscovery, information governance, and data privacy services markets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clients with “good value” for the services provided, including identifying legal issues with clients and providing legal analysis and solutions
- Provide advice to team members across the Firm on applicable laws and the interpretation of legal documents in a manner that avails practical legal approach while properly managing the risks to the Firm
- Draft letters, briefs, pleadings, memorandums, and other client deliverables that meet the Firm’s expectations with regards to work product quality given the level of experience and complexity of deliverable
- Identify issues and properly analyze complex issues
- Undertake efforts to develop a degree of specialization or expertise in an important area of the Firm’s practice
- Seek opportunities to stay abreast of developments in the law (for instance, by attending or participating in seminars)
- Maintain good rapport with clients and be responsive to client needs
- Client Billable Hours 1740
- Discretionary Bonus Eligibility Client Billable Hours 1860
Qualifications:
- Must be barred in California, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, or Washington D.C.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience practicing law and have a demonstrated interest in the eDiscovery, information governance, and data privacy service markets
- Able to travel up to 35% of the time
- Able to travel internationally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
