Associate Medical Director supports the implementation of medical policies for the entire organization. Ensures the delivery of quality patient care. Being an Associate Medical Director researches and evaluates new treatments and medical innovations. Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient care improvements. Additionally, Associate Medical Director requires a MD degree. Typically reports to Medical Director. The Associate Medical Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Associate Medical Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     You'll be joining a full service, collaborative team.  In addition to joining our two full-time doctors, you will be supported by a team of technicians, and our practice manager.  The Edgewater team is Recover Rescuer certified, Fear Free certified; Rescue Certified Receptionists/Office Manager are BLS certified, Technicians are BLS and ALS certified!  

    Responsibilities   

    • Serve as a key medical communication liaison between the hospital and area leadership.
    • Partner with the Practice Manager to manage the hospital as role models and champions of United Veterinary Care’s brand to provide consistent high-quality care and unmatched client experience to the most pets and clients and to maximize efficiency, productivity, and profitability. 
    • Train the team on hospital guidelines and practices. Supervise and train the team to ensure compliance. 
    • Teach and coach on case management, exam room communication, annual reviews and excellent client service and monthly doctor meetings (refer to doctor meeting best practices document). 
    • Supports regular staff meetings and holds all staff accountable for knowing what has been discussed and how it impacts the health of the hospital. 
    • Sets the medical vision for the hospital, advocating and ensuring medical quality with optimum client experience.
    • Works supportively with the hospital (practice) manager in understanding administrative and personnel issues while building effective teams. 
    • Engages associate veterinarians by developing talent, creating collaborative relationships, and delivering consistent results. 
    • Makes sound judgments and utilizes UVC leadership when needed.  

    Requirements   

    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. 
    • Active, or ability to obtain, FL license in good standing to practice
