The Registrar is responsible for directing patients and/or relatives, visitors, and promoting positive guest relations. Responsible for the Admission/Registration, Pre-Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers of patients. Accurately obtains demographic and insurance information while collecting or making financial arrangements on co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay accounts. Obtains insurance authorizations and/or pre-certifications, and verifies insurance coverage and benefits. Assists with the development and implementation of the department's Performance Improvement Plan.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: One (1) year of experience working in a medical/business office setting strongly preferred. Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance rules and regulations strongly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
