Asst. Professor - Civil Engineering jobs in San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Draft plans, profiles, diagrams, 3D models, utilities, and other drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D in accordance with transit agency standards and specifications.
• Prepare Cost estimates and Quantity Takeoffs.
• Interface and Coordination with engineers, architects, and other third parties.
• Assist in the preparation of Construction Plans and Specifications for client submissions.
• Ensures compliance of design with applicable codes and regulations.
• Produce quality work following quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer in California is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering.
• Intermediate knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
• Experience with Civil3D software should include two or more of the following: development of roadway and/or track alignments, roadway and/or transit corridor modeling, creating 3D surfaces, site grading plans, generating earthwork calculations, project cross sections, and development of piping networks for utilities.
• Experience with the preparation of design deliverables for medium to large-scale projects.
• Relevant experience involving major transportation, transit, and/or land development projects is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proactive coordination, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of civil utilities, storm drainage systems, site grading and drainage, roadway, track guideway, and minor structures such as retaining walls and culverts is preferred.
• Knowledge of Right of Way mapping, including the understanding legal descriptions, easements, and assessor’s maps.  
• General knowledge of trackwork, railroad operations and systems, and major structures is desired, but not required.
