Electrical Engineering Technology Professor

    Electrical Engineering Technology Professor: Provides instruction and training related to Electronics / Electrical Engineering technicians. Will provide instruction to students to build, test, service, and repair electronic equipment used in a variety of industries. Topics covered in this program include electronics principles, circuit troubleshooting and design, PLC, motor controls, hydraulics and pneumatics, industrial automation, Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Vacuum Thin Films. This position assists in the development and modification of curriculum as necessary; assists in the strategic planning for the Industrial Technology Department. The Grayson College Electrical Engineering Technology program offers two levels of certificates leading to an A.A.S. degree.

     

    This position is funded in part by a Grant.

     

    The salary for this position is based on the Grayson College 2023-2024 Faculty Salary Scale, 23-24 Faculty Salary Scale

    Responsibilities

    • 55% Teaches at least 15 SCHS (load hours) of EET courses per long semester (Fall/Spring); meets classes as assigned and provides assistance to students outside of class. Instructs in a variety of settings and formats, including dualcredit, online, hybrids, and occasionally weekends/evenings.
    • 25% Works as team member in the Industrial Technology Department; develops and implements a program of instruction that meets the needs of the students as well as area businesses; adheres to national/state regulations; complies with the ‘faculty responsibilities’ as outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the College’s Policy and Procedure Manual; develops and updates curriculum and measure student learning outcomes as needed to meet THECB Exemplary Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
    • 15% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements. Participates in College committees. Assists in registration, advisement, and recruiting of students.
    •  5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: 3 years industry experience required, 5 years preferred. Previous successful experience teaching in a high school, university and/or community college preferred.

    • Education: Associate degree in the discipline or an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, and a demonstration of competency in the teaching discipline. Acceptable method to demonstrate competency in the discipline must include one ofthe following: Earned Certificate Degree in the discipline from a regionally accredited institution and three years of documented non-teaching work experience in the discipline, or an occupational license in the discipline issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, the Texas Board of Plumbing Examiners, or by a recognized reciprocal entity, that allows the person to perform work in the discipline within the State of Texas.

    • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success. Collegial attitude with the college community as well as outside entities. Cooperative attitude and excellent team skills.

    • Other Skills: Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments. Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing resultant data, and implementing improvement plans. Excellent computer and multimedia skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. 

    • Physical Requirements: The work is typically walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, etc. 

    • Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office and/or electrical lab setting.
