    About the Job                                     

    HRS is hiring driven individuals interested in a career in habitat restoration with a focus of targeting invasive plant species on non-residential sites throughout the Orange County area. Work includes herbicide and fertilizer application on restoration and flood control channel projects as part of the IPM programs. This position will be required to report to various project sites around Orange County on a day-to-day basis and may include reporting to project sites in San Diego, Riverside, or San Bernardino counties as required. This position is responsible for working as a team member under direct supervision of their supervisor.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Application of herbicides and fertilizers
    • Operate mechanized and hand held spray equipment
    • Read, interpret, and follow product label instructions
    • Operate a variety of hand and power tools
    • Maintain and care for company equipment, tools and vehicles
    • Clean and dispose pesticide containers safely
    • Work as part of a team and take direction
    • Follow all safety procedures on job site
    • Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity
    • Keep accurate timesheet records, submitted for review and signoff by the required deadlines
    • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned/instructed by supervisor
    • Document application usage records and control methodologies on a daily basis
    • Maintain PCA and/or QAL licenses including taking CEU courses annually.

     

    Education and Essential Skills

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 2 years’ experience in construction or landscape and/or pest control
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record required
    • Currently in possession of a Qualified Applicators License (QAL) or Pest Control Advisor (PCA).
    • Highly motivated, self-driven and detail oriented
    • Great time management skills; available for seasonal long hours and weekends
    • Punctual and dependable
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge and skill levels

     

    Physical Requirements

    This position requires consistently moving, walking, stooping and kneeling. Ability to push, pull, carry and lift over 50 pounds multiple times per day. Driving for extended periods of time. Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements 8 to 10 hours per day. Frequently walking on uneven terrain.  This can include heavy to moderate noise, close proximity to moving equipment or machinery.  Exposure to materials, tools, herbicides and equipment used in construction and landscaping. 

     

    Proposed Salary Range: $22.00 – $28.00 hourly*

    *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
