Asst. Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. POSITION CLASSIFICATIONS: Faculty (non-Tenure Track)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master of Science in Nursing required.
Experience: Must have recent teaching experience preferably in a community college setting dealing with diverse student populations. Current nursing experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Must have a valid New Jersey Nursing License.
Skills/Abilities:
1. Ability to teach a full-range of nursing subjects, specifically pharmacology for nurses, nursing math, nursing fundamentals, medical-surgical and specialty nursing.
2. Ability to use appropriate instructional technology
3. Ability to develop and use innovative instructional approaches such as team teaching, collaborative learning and group problem solving.
4. Ability and willingness to work well with administrators, staff, faculty, college and community organizations and committees.
5. Ability and willingness to participate in accredited related and state required activities for the nursing progam.
6. Performs other duties as assigned in support of students enrolled in the Nursing program.
