    JOB SUMMARY

    The Department of Psychology at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in biological psychology. The successful candidate will have the expertise to teach courses in various areas of "biopsychology" (e.g., psychopharmacology, human neuroscience, behavioral genetics etc.). We seek candidates with proven teaching ability at the undergraduate level and potential for excellence in graduate teaching. Fully qualified candidates will have the ability to teach students of diverse cultural backgrounds. The preferred start date for the position is August 17, 2022. A Master's degree in biological psychology, behavioral neuroscience, experimental psychology, or a related area is required. Individuals with a doctorate in one of these areas are encouraged to apply.

    TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

    The normal load for full-time lecturers is five courses for each of two semesters per year. Examples of possible courses for this position include biological psychology, brain and behavior, behavioral neuroscience, learning and motivation, drugs and behavior, developmental psychobiology, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in-person, but the position may also include online or hybrid courses. University service is not expected for this position, but if the opportunity arises, participation in an appropriate service activity can substitute for a course assignment. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


    • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Biological Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology, or related area in hand by time of appointment.


    • Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


    • Doctoral degree in Biological Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology, or related area in hand by time of appointment.


    • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level at a comprehensive university.


    • Experience advising and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds, non-traditional students, and first-generation students


    Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

    The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments at CSUSB, with 25 full-time and 22 part-time faculty, 105 graduate students, and 2000 undergraduates. The department offers one undergraduate major in Psychology with three formal concentrations - General Psychology, Biological Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. In addition, the department houses three master's programs: Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Psychological Science, and
