Facts about the job

• We are a mobile company. This means you will keep the company vehicle at your home and drive out to your jobs each day. On average, you will do two jobs in a day.
• It takes on average about 3-4 hours to do each job. When you are new, you will be slower, when you have experience you will get a lot faster. Most detailers do 2 jobs each day. It is not unheard of for detailers to do 3 jobs in a day, but realistically when you're working 5 days a week, 2 jobs a day is a good pace for most people.
• You can view your jobs for the next day online. The job information is also sent via text message to your phone each night and each morning.
• We service about a 45 mile driving radius of Washington DC.
• Our scheduling software optimizes the locations of the jobs you are scheduled for in order to minimize the driving time between jobs. Most of the time this works pretty well, but there are edge cases. Example: Someone calls in sick and the schedule has to be shuffled around last minute.
• The office is manned from 7am-8pm every day, so you can get support all day if you run into any issues or need help with job information, interacting with a customer, etc...
• 4 people work on the back end providing customer service, marketing and advertising in order to make sure you have support and full time work.
• Many people who start work here do not have previous experience in mobile car detailing. We provide paid training.
• Most people who start working here continue working here for many years. The reason is that we work really hard to make this a good place to work and its really important that the people who work here are happy with their work.

Work ScheduleYou'll choose 5 days a week as your normal working days. Because sometimes there are cancelations due to weather or other circumstances, you will also choose an alternate day to work in case you were unable to work on one of your normal days.

Vacation is fairly lax compared to other jobs as long as

• You give us enough notice so that we don't already have you scheduled for jobs (and thus would have to cancel on our customers). Usually we're scheduled about 5 days out.
• You are able to roughly work the normal 251 working days in a year. (251 days is the average amount of working days in a year after subtracting weekends and holidays)

PaymentPayment is per job based on the average amount of time a job usually takes. For example an inside-only job on a small car would be less than a complete detailing on a large van.

Payment is 1099. The reason for this is everyone makes more money this way ( less taxes ).

Average yearly pay is about $40k ($40k is a little conservative, lately most detailers are averaging about 4k per month, however there is a slow period in January and February where there are a lot of days where the weather does not allow us to work). Providing you with full time work is something that is taken VERY seriously. One example is that during slow months we offer loss-leader discounts to customers. This means we provide customers with steep discounts, you make your regular pay, but the company loses a little bit of money.

Additionally, you will make about $5k - $7k a year in tips.

Additionally, you are provided with a company vehicle that you are free to use for personal use when you are not working. Most people who work here have families, so most vehicles that we provide are 4-door trucks with back seats. (Example: Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, Chevy Silverado Dual cab) We do this so that you can use the company vehicle as your primary vehicle, this way you save a ton of money by not having to purchase and maintain your own vehicle. The cost of purchasing and maintaining a decent vehicle is about $8,500 a year ($600 a month car payment, plus $120 a month insurance).
