Packaging & Automation Operator

  • Position Summary: Packaging & Automation Operator is responsible for a wide range of duties associated with the set-up, operation, and adjustment of all types of manufacturing packaging and automated equipment as well as providing support to maximize efficiency in rapid diagnostic test manufacturing at Chembio.
    Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Safely operate equipment in the production of medical diagnostic test kits of various types. Meet all batch record and quality control requirements and specifications.
    • Machine set-up and changeover per SOP, includes preforming quality control testing.
    • Familiar with operating automated machinery through a User Interface (Tablet)
    • Operate and support of computer-controlled systems and robotic manufacturing equipment.
    • Assist with pre and post line clearance, i.e., equipment set-up and take down.
    • Work request and Logbook documentation.
    • Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. to fill up bins, hoppers etc. and maintain manufacturing materials on the line as required.
    • Performing procedural adjustments and real-time troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
    • Ability to diagnose & troubleshoot manufacturing equipment (to recognize and identify potential problems with equipment).
    • Must be able to remove, replace, align, adjust, and make necessary corrections on all mechanical equipment in a timely matter.
    • Performs equipment housekeeping. This includes performing all job clean-up as related to maintenance tasks, duties, and functions.
    • Be able to identify equipment related safety issues.
    • Performs LOTO Policy and Procedure, as required by SOP.
    • Completing maintenance work requests in a timely manner.
    • Performing projects as determined by the Assembly Supervisor, Engineering and Maintenance.
    • Perform other duties as needed to meet department, manufacturing, or business needs.
    Qualifications Required:
    • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience.
    • Robotic control experience is a plus.
    • Able to track and record output, yield, rate, machine efficiency.
    • Able to track and record quality results.
    • Demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Knowledge of packaging and automated equipment.
    • Team player, ambitious, detailed oriented, person that is self-initiating and accountable for their work assignments.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Understand and follow company policies and procedures on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's & SOP’s).
    • Must be flexible to working hours including overtime & weekends.
    • Must be fluent in speaking and writing in English.
