Automotive Diagnostic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Technician specializing in vehicle diagnostics and repair. Your primary responsibility will be to utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and software to accurately identify and resolve vehicle issues, ensuring maximum reliability and functionality. An outstanding diagnostic technician possesses exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and extensive knowledge of both mechanical and electronic systems. Strong communication skills are also essential to provide clear and concise guidance to customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections of vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to accurately diagnose issues.
• Utilize advanced vehicle computer and electronic diagnostic systems to identify, maintain, and upgrade vehicle functionality.
• Conduct precise diagnostic assessments to pinpoint malfunctions and determine the root cause of issues.
• Develop and implement effective repair strategies based on diagnostic findings.
• Schedule and plan future maintenance sessions, providing customers with expert advice on best practices for vehicle care.
• Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for diagnostic and repair jobs.
• Maintain detailed records of diagnostic procedures, findings, and repairs performed in our shop management system.
• Keep diagnostic equipment and tools in optimal condition, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Skills

• Proven experience as a diagnostic technician or auto mechanic with a strong emphasis on vehicle diagnostics.
• Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle components.
• Proficiency with advanced vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
• Familiarity with Mitchell software, Snap-on Modis scanner, and Autel diagnostic tools is a plus.
• Experience with digital volt and ohm meters (DVOM) for precise electrical diagnostics.
• Commitment to safety protocols and precautions against accidents, dangerous fluids, and chemicals.
• Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is a plus.
• Valid certification (e.g., ASE) with a specialization in diagnostics is highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license.
