Advanced Battery Development Manager

  • Position Summary

    On a daily basis, you will work with advanced/experimental materials (e.g. nano-particles, metal oxides, electrolytes, and polymers), inspect and prepare equipment, identify and address testing constraints, and analyze data. The job entails hands-on work with electrodes starting from their powder components to building and testing cells. To provide technical leadership as the head of technical management of the laboratory, appropriate quality control procedures, and implement the Laboratory Management System. To ensure effective implementation of the laboratory management system, and to interact with external auditors and technical experts.

    Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident due to the types of projects and companies we collaborate with.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    · Monitor team projects, with regards to project status, completion time, and any problems that may have arisen during the course of the project to accurately assess resource needs and BIC impact.

    · Identify opportunities for improvement and gaps in the cell fabrication process and procedures, personnel skill sets and equipment/capabilities, and ensuring team capabilities and techniques remain at the forefront of advancements in the industry.

    · Attend client meetings to discuss team opportunities; identify client needs and evaluate alternative business solutions as well as present and explain proposals, reports, or findings to clients.

    · Perform administrative functions, such as reviewing or writing reports, approving expenditures, or enforcing rules.

    · Research, design, and analyze advanced battery products through testing, validation, and reporting and reporting results to the appropriate parties.

    · Operate required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules, maintain a neat and clean work area, follow established tool and instrument control procedures, and report any unsafe acts or conditions to the immediate supervisor.

    · Team management: utilize team members to their fullest potential, encourage collaboration, mitigate conflict, foster positive communication, acknowledgment, and appreciation.

    · Track team lessons learned and share evaluations with team members when appropriate.

    • To arrange technical literature and testing/calibration standards for use by laboratory personnel.
    • To authorize staff performing tasks and to review and authorize the results and reports.
    • To prepare and execute quality plans for standard services offered by the laboratory.
    • To manage the quality assurance department and implement quality control procedures.
    • To ensure that appropriate laboratory equipment is procured and available for use.
    • To manage training programs.
    • To interact with customers and take feedback on the quality of services received by them.
    • To conduct internal audits and supplier audits and to monitor corrective and preventive actions, and to report the performance of the management system to the top management.

    · Perform other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    · Minimum of PHD in Materials Chemistry or related STEM discipline

    · Minimum 7 years of industry battery experience

    · Technical expertise in electrochemistry, thermodynamics, and structure-function relationships

    · Strong technical report writing and presentation skills

    · Excellent communication, prioritization, attention to detail, and organizational skillsets

    · Ability to apply research and statistical analysis techniques to make sound, data-driven conclusions

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
