Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. MAIN FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing mental health services to clients, including crisis/intake assessment and intervention, making appropriate referral for acuity, providing education, discharge planning, acting as a community liaison and offering assistance to family members. Directly reports to the System Director of Continuum of Care with direct line to St. Joseph’s Emergency Department Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Daily contact with patients/clients, family members and other Arnot Health personnel.
Visitors, guests, representatives from outside organizations.
EDUCATION:
LMSW or Registered Nurse.
EXPERIENCE:
One year experience working in a psychiatric setting. One year or more completing psychiatric evaluations for level of care determination either in an emergency room or walk-in clinic.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.).
Mostly sedentary work.
Lifts supplies and equipment.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. But employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
