Behavioral Health Director jobs in Newark, NJ

Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Experience & Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Psychology or a related field required.
    • Doctorate in Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
    • Licensed (or license eligible with application pending) to practice psychology in the State of New Jersey where services are being delivered.
    • Satisfactory background investigation report.

    A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.

    Responsibilities

    Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Behavioral Health Director with YesCare at Essex County Juvenile located in Newark, New Jersey:

    • Acts as point of contact for administrative staff for discussion of treatment programs and problem resolution as needed.
    • Coordinates development and revision of policies and procedures for the identification, assessment and provision of required clinical services for inmates.
    • Supervises the planning, development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to YesCare.
    • Provides clinical supervision to staff of Mental Health Services.
    • Monitors efforts of Mental Health Services to ensure clinical services are being provided in a timely, professional manner. Ensures treatment programs contracted are integrated and appropriately staffed.
    • Provides administrative support to psychiatric staff. Assists coordinators in recruitment and selection of clinical staff.
    • Coordinates facility mental health Quality Improvement Program.
