    Position Overview

    Complete all organizational client and patient billing, which includes, but limited to, Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse and Primary Care. Perform a variety of routine and non-routine clerical duties requiring knowledge of insurance billing procedures and guidelines.

    Job Duties

    • Prepare and submit billing for all programs through an electronic billing system.
    • Reviews billing reports for accuracy, timeliness, denials, and revenue leakage.
    • Works denials and the Software firewall as assigned by the Coder/Biller.
    • Responsible for service “back-end” billing entries for a variety of services.
    • Performs or assists management with miscellaneous reports/projects as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Two-year AA degree in Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and two years’ experience as a biller OR equivalent in education and experience is required.
    • Demonstrated understanding of medical coding and billing is essential for this position.
    • Prefer to have CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CPB (Certified Professional Biller), COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification.
    • Familiarity with medical billing software programs.
    • Computer literacy skills, especially with MS Excel and intermediate data entry and computation.
    • Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail.
    • Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines.
    • Respect confidentiality of information laws and local ethics.
    • Experience with Cerner billing software is a plus.
