Position Details

What you will do?

The primary role of the Billing Specialist is to follow the claim process from file to payment.  This position is responsible for one or two insurance funders (Amerigroup, Iowa Total Care, Molina, or Private Insurance).  Specific responsibilities include:

• Be responsible for monitoring, pursuing, and collecting on past-due accounts.
• Accurately post all insurance payments, adjustments, and denials by line item.
• Maintain billing claim queues for accurate and timely follow up as assigned.
• Timely follow up on denial management.
• Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 60 days.
• Responsible for re-billing and re-classifying patient accounts to the correct payer.
• Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers.
• Serves as a resource to staff for billing issues.
• Provide customer service with in-person, electronic or telephone communications.
• Perform additional duties as requested by administration or supervisor.

What you need:

You need a High School diploma and prior accounting experience.  Previous experience with medical billing and collections is preferred.
