JOB PURPOSE
The Bookkeeper is responsible for focusing on the day-to-day financial transactions of Community Church Oshkosh (CCO). The bookkeeper ensures that all bills are paid on time, transactions are recorded correctly, payroll runs on time, and taxes are filed correctly. The bookkeeper ensures that accounting information is accurate and organized for decision making by management.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain the church’s accounting system including the general ledger and chart of accounts.
· Handle processing and payment of expenses as well as recording and tracking of incoming funds.
· Assist with weekly counting and perform weekly deposit.
· Process bi-weekly payroll, including tracking and review of timesheets for hourly staff members.
· Work with payroll company to ensure all quarterly and annual tax filings are completed.
· Complete annual worker’s compensation audit for insurance reporting.
· Perform monthly reconciliation between Planning Center Online donations and QuickBooks.
· Track all designated funds to ensure that funds are spent in accordance with donor restrictions.
· Work with ministry leaders and/or mission trip leaders to coordinate budgeting, collections, and payments related to trips and retreats.
· Provide administrative and financial support to the Mission Team by implementing financial changes, tracking partnering agreements, and other administrative duties.
· Handle maintenance and proper disposal of financial files in accordance with record retention policy.
· Work with ministry staff to maintain asset inventory listing.
· Complete distribution of year-end donation statements for tax purposes.
· Assist with the budget preparation process on an annual basis by providing financial reports and information.
· Track budgeted expenses to actual expenses throughout the year and prepare monthly financial reports for overseers and staff.
· Assist with financial questions and prepare other financial reports as needed.
· Oversee maintenance of financial information in the PCO database.
· Seek opportunities for ongoing professional development.
· Assist with preparation of financial information for church business meetings.
· Attend and add input at staff meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Education
o Associates degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
· Experience and/or Technical Skills and Abilities
o Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
o Experience in working with accounting software and databases.
o Excellent data entry and management skills.
o Must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to receive training as needed for this position.
o Must have effective oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to interact with many different individuals in a professional manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous bookkeeping experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move boxes of files as needed.
Extensive team member contact and frequent interruptions.
Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
Work does require weekend and evening hours.
Limited travel may be required for training and/or conferences.
