    Basic Description:

    Provide leadership, support and guidance to the Underwriting Department. Oversee the processes of the department, facilitating problem solving and collaboration. Responsible for ensuring the department meets quality expectations of agencies, investors and regulators, ensuring files are reviewed and conditioned appropriately.

    Responsibilities

    • Stay up to date on industry knowledge and standards. This includes all agency and investor guidelines, compliance regulations and all applicable state requirements
    • Understand and oversee all processes and functions of the Underwriting Department. Maintain, review and changes processes and procedures as needed
    • Monitor KPIs for volume and quality within the department
    • Monitor pipeline data to ensure staff follows proper procedures, timeframes and company guidelines.
    • Interview, hire, train and coach department staff as needed
    • Provide constructive support to all Flat Branch teams, including sales
    • Maintain working relationships with key managers and employees in order to collaborate with Flat Branch departments to achieve company objectives
    • Participate in applicable huddle calls and meetings to facilitate and monitor communication among teams
    • Facilitate the implementation and rollout of new projects including investors, companies, departments and products
    • Take on any additional duties as required

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • 7 years of mortgage underwriting experience required
    • 3 years of experience in a leadership position
    • In depth knowledge of all facets of the mortgage industry
    • Extensive knowledge of all mortgage loan types and regulations
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-pasted environment, quickly analyzing situations and providing solutions
    • Traveling to Flat Branch locations as needed
    • Prolonged periods at sitting at a desk, required
