Bricklaying Supervisor supervises and directs a crew and other personnel engaged in masonry installation projects. Coordinates the activities of workers engaged in laying brick, tile, cinderblock, and other materials to construct or repair structures. Being a Bricklaying Supervisor checks the quality of work performed and directs clean up of job site. Requires a thorough knowledge of all types, shapes, and brands of bricks, mortars, and patching materials, and how to reline the ladles, tundishes and the furnace. Additionally, Bricklaying Supervisor requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a melt shop general supervisor or maintenance general supervisor. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     Reports to the CTT Manager and is a salaried, exempt position. Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates and abides by Eckerd Connects Core Values and operating principles.
    • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
    • Meets SMART Goals established by management every Program Year.
    • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
    • Instructs on the Bricklaying curriculum in accordance with the Job Corps requirements and program specifications.
    • Counsels and motivates students regarding behavior, training, personal and/or study habits and problems.
    • Develops and prepares supplemental lessons and recommends curricula enhancements and supplements.
    • Individualizes the Bricklaying curriculum to fit the students’ choice of vocation and maintains contact with vocational counselors and instructors.
    • Responsible for building and equipment in seeing that security measures are taken, and equipment and supplies are cared for. Maintains a clean working environment that mirrors industry standards.
    • Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations.
    • Maintains classroom environment (behavior and surroundings) conductive to learning.
    • Attends required staff training sessions.
    • Adheres to all aspects of Covenant Learning Solutions’ (CLS) Quality Assurance Plan.
    • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate Career Success Standard (CSS) and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
    • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
    • Cultivates and maintains a campus climate that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
    • Identify possible new Work Based Learning (WBL) site partners and provide recommendations points-of-contact to BCL-WBL Coordinator.
    • Visits work sites to monitor student progress.
    • Meets monthly with Career Counselors, BCL-WBL Coordinator and student on their progress evaluations. 
    • Develops Performance Improvement Plans for Students that are not meeting appropriate benchmarks.
    • Adheres to all OSH standards and maintains shop safety at all times.
    • Maintains tool accountability daily.
    • Ability to navigate the Microsoft Suite of Applications.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located or is accredited by a professional trade organization. (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified or licensed instructors, but candidates must pursue certification)
    • Previous experience working in the related trade/field preferred. 
    • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision-making, flexibility, and problem-solving.
    • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency.
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.

     

    Additional Requirements: Knowledge of required subject area. Ability to transfer topical knowledge to meet specific learning objectives. Ability to compose descriptive reports. Able to use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to motivate and inspire students and effectively relate to the student population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

    Pay starting at $17.20 per hour
