Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Technician to join our dynamic team at Sam's Auto Service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, with a commitment to providing high-quality service. As an Automotive Technician, you will play a key role in keeping our customers' vehicles running smoothly and ensuring the continued success of our shop.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical and electrical issues on various makes and models of vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid level checks.
- Inspect vehicles and provide detailed reports on necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain diagnostic findings and recommend repairs or maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and labor time.
- Work with shop management to ensure timely completion of repairs and to meet customer expectations.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other technicians and team members to address complex issues and improve shop efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to shop safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians and apprentices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an automotive technician, with a minimum of 5 years in a professional shop environment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- ASE certification (or equivalent) preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Automotive certification or associate degree preferred).
- Must have own set of tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Standing, bending, and working in tight spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions when needed.
