Budget Director jobs in Louisiana

The Shreve Memorial Library is seeking an experienced Budget Accountant to join our team. As the Budget Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations related to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources within the library system. The Budget Accountant will be a valuable member of the finance team and support the Shreve Memorial Library's mission to transform Caddo Parish lives with resources, services and support to create a better world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Acts as a liaison to both Parish and City finance staff and leaders.
• Assist CBO to Develop, implement, and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
• Assist with management of Library Capital Improvement Program budgets.
• Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving budgetary processes and resource allocation.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including variance analysis and budget projections, for management review and decision-making.
• Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets and financial policies.
• Conduct periodic audits and reviews of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in budgeting and financial management.
• Additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or accounting, preferably in a public sector or nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices is desirable.
