    About the Role

    Reporting to the CCO, the Business Development Manager’s primary responsibility will be identifying and winning new funding and sales opportunities to support magniX’s goal of developing and delivering electric propulsion systems for aerospace and other industries. The Business Development Manager will lead the process of identifying, developing proposals for and winning opportunities such as government contracts, philanthropic and university grants, corporate research and sustainability funding and sales requests for proposals. This is a hands-on role that will require the Business Development Manager to program manage the delivery of high-quality proposals on time and will require the direct authoring of proposals as well as ensuring quality and on-time inputs from the wider team and actively identifying new opportunities. Finally, the Business Development Manager will coordinate all governmental engagements to ensure that our efforts and resources are targeted and delivering against our goals.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Create and maintain a hopper of specific funding needs gleaned from an understanding of magniX’s capabilities and strategic direction.
    • Search US federal funding databases such as grants.gov, identifying relevant opportunities which align with magniX’s specific funding needs.
    • Identify opportunities from international governments; individual state governments; universities; philanthropies; and corporate initiatives.
    • Maintain a register of identified relevant funding opportunities, calculate the return on investment to magniX and make strategic decisions about which opportunities magniX should bid for.
    • Program-manage both funding and sales proposals through the application process and ensure a successful hand-off to the program manager who will contract, deliver, and administer the program.
    • Author funding applications and sales proposals.
    • Marshall company resources to provide technical knowledge in our proposals.
    • Seek feedback to improve the quality and focus of our proposals.
    • Identify federal and state laws and regulations that are critical for magniX’s success and create action plans to engage and deliver results.
    • Coordinate all engagements to ensure that our efforts and resources are targeted and delivering against clear goals.

     

    Qualifications

    • 4-10 years of experience identifying, authoring and winning government contracts
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Strong knowledge of the US government funding landscape is ideal, eagerness to learn new areas is essential.
    • Strong program management skills
    • Excellent ability to think creatively, connect the dots and partner with other organizations to deliver this mission
    • Results driven – success will be measured on bids won.
    • Excellent persuasive writing skills to ensure strong bids that are focused and tailored to each program
    • Organized and able to manage multiple deadlines while seeking out new opportunities.


    Work Authorization

    • Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment without the assistance of magniX.

     

    Location

    • Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.

    This position's approximate base salary range is $115,000.00 - 160,000.00 per year, depending on years of experience and level of education.

     

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. Under §120.15, a “U.S. Person” includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. As this position requires access to export-controlled data, an appropriate export authorization by the U.S. Government may be required prior to such access. Employment, and the continuity of employment of non-U.S. persons, is contingent upon the company’s ability to secure and maintain the necessary export control authorization.
