Business Development Manager manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary:

    This position is responsible for developing business from new and existing accounts in the Houston Sales Market. You will achieve assigned revenues and performance goals, further develop business relationships through high level account contact and strong ability to close and secure business.

    • High level understanding of the entire supply chain
    • Able to connect and build lasting relationships with high level customer contacts quickly.
    • Able to present potential clients with logistics solutions within complete understanding of Gulf Winds core services.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills
    • Team player with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Word Office and related products.
    • Critical, time sensitive decision making that impacts contractual agreement.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by Senior Management.

    • Achieve profitable sales growth through assigned KPIs and Weekly Call goals.
    • Lead Key Account Teams of assigned accounts through Quarterly Reviews, in person visits, and problem resolution.
    • Create positive behavioral differentiation with current and potential customers by practicing and using the GWI Customer Perspective Sales Process.
    • Coordinates sales process with customer service representatives and operations staff to ensure customer’s requests are being properly met, and that customers are kept abreast of new developments.
    • Determine target account needs by seeking out and studying their import/export process and identifying key supply chain contacts.
    • Compose executive summaries based on target account needs.
    • Monitor competitive activity and other external factors such as local market trends and governmental policy, which can impact our business.
    • Participate in industry organizations and functions as directed by upper management.
    • Receive and respond to opportunities in a timely manner. Maintain accurate rate records of all inquiries following up same as required.
    • Maintains current files/records and customer profiles.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must have 2-4 years of 3PL Sales experience.
    • Must have exceptional negotiating and communication skills.
    • Must have knowledge in intermodal sales.
    • Must have computer literacy in MS Office products and Salesforce.

    Formal Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in general business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred but will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
