Business Intelligence Specialist creates reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and aid business decision-making. Uses querying languages like SQL, scripting languages like R or Python, and other tools like Tableau or Excel to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. Being a Business Intelligence Specialist combines these reports with subject-matter expertise to deliver coherent, insightful takeaways and advice. Collaborates with project stakeholders to better understand valuable objectives and KPIs and to design relevant reports and dashboards. Additionally, Business Intelligence Specialist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Business Intelligence Specialist work is closely managed.     The Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

    The Business Intelligence Engineer describes the tools, technologies, applications and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present an organization's raw data in order to create insightful and actionable business information. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

    Required Qualifications

    • 2 or more years of experience in SQL, SAS or other data systems
    • 1 year of Python or similar automation experience
    • 1 year of technical experience in data analysis and visualization
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
    • Expertise in assessing complex data sets and performing root cause analysis

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
    • In-depth experience in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivots, charts, graphs, etc.
    • Experience with data mining and predictive modeling techniques
    • Ability to use data to drive business outcomes and decisions

    Pay Range

    The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


     

    $65,000 - $89,500 per year


     

    This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
