The Process Control Specialist (PCS) will play a critical role in supporting continuous improvement in safety, manufacturing, cost, process reliability and productivity at the Holden, LA Lumber site. The PCS is responsible for providing technical and programming support to site manufacturing facilities through the utilization and optimization of process control systems. The position is part of a team that is driving cost reduction initiatives, process reliability and optimization who will work collaboratively with team leaders to improve manufacturing operations and lead new technology projects.

Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, the PCS will interact with the plant maintenance and operations teams to support the use and maintenance of the systems, and with engineers and project managers to facilitate engineering, capital and major maintenance projects.

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Dayshift schedule with flexibility to respond to unplanned plant events and work flexible schedules across shifts when required.

Key Functions:
As Process Control Specialist, you will:

• Perform Mid to High level PLC Programming and HMI Development support for existing equipment and new installations
• Implements, tests, troubleshoots and improves electronic automation and controls systems in manufacturing/ production/ operations processes to increase production quality, efficiency and volume
• Checks control system schematics and specifications and uses software and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions
• Help design and integrate capital projects by ensuring proper electrical and controls implementation
• Work closely with mill to help identify the best solutions to existing issues
• Help to implement Ethernet Networking throughout Machine Networks and Mill Wide Networks

• Commitment to safety – demonstrated record of understanding and following safety practices and procedures.
• High School GED/Diploma
• Minimum of 5 years PLC programming experience, preferably in Allen Bradley Control Logics Platform
• Experience with Motion Control utilizing Linear Positioners, preferably using the 1756-HYD, 1756-MO2AS or RMC controllers
• Experience with Ethernet Networking
• Experience in controlling VFD’s, Servos and Electronic Overloads via Ethernet IP
• Experience in Factory Talk View and/or Wonderware
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to share knowledge and ideas in a team environment

Preferred:

• At least 3 years of experience in the wood products industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Technical Diploma in Controls, Instrumentation or similar field
• Experience with SAP
• Modicon and TI experience is a plus
• Robotics Experience
