Position Summary: Via Credit Union is seeking a Business Development Officer to grow and support the business loan portfolio in the 12 counties in the field of membership*. The Business Development Officer is responsible for soliciting and /or developing and maintaining profitable account relationships with Via Credit Union members and establishing new business members. The position works Monday - Friday. The position will work out of the South Marion IN branch with some remote hybrid flexibility.

Essential Functions:
- Promote Via Credit Union’s business services to existing and potential members
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Via Credit Union’s business loan products and services. Inform members of our business loan products and recommend appropriate products to meet the member’s financial needs
- Generate business loan applications to increase the business loan portfolio
- Collect credit and financial documentation and assess the member’s needs
- Attend networking functions to increase the awareness of ViaCU’s business services in field of membership counties
- Spend a minimum of 30 hours per week actively calling on businesses and scheduling appointments with potential business prospects
- Compile and maintain business lending reports as necessary
- Adhere to all Via Credit Union business lending policies and procedures
- Utilize needed software to ensure efficient member service
- Assist departmental co-workers as needed to gather financials for loan portfolio
- Cooperate with NCUA examiners and outside auditors
- Perform other duties as assigned
*Field of Membership Counties: Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Madison, Howard, Huntington, Kosciusko, Madison, Miami, Tipton, Wabash, and Wells
Skills & Abilities:
Education: College degree or equivalent work experience in financial services industry
Experience:
- Business and real estate lending experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of lending regulations and guidelines
- Previous sales experience preferred
- Previous relationship building sales experience preferred
- Strong business acumen including basic understanding of business returns and financials
- Demonstrated advanced level of customer service and interpersonal skills
Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be insurable
- Must have reliable transportation
