Job Description

Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. is looking for a CAD Designer to work within our Water Resources team to support land planning, permitting, and production efforts primary within power and energy projects. Ideal candidate will be located in Florida or Michigan with the ability to work from a remote location.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation software to create engineering contract documents (CADD drawings).
• Read and understand plans, design sketches and drawings.
• Draft and develop engineering contract documents as directed from engineering mark-ups, sketches, detailed drawings, and verbal direction.
• Assist office staff in use of Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation software, including troubleshooting of CAD issues.
• Adhere to quality Assurance Policies/Procedures, CADD protocol, as well as client standards and requirements.
• Assist with compiling and analyzing data from surveys, structural concepts, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities.
• Understand the use of state and local design standards.
• Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.
• Assume responsibility for the quality of work submitted. Review designs and documents before submitting them to the next review level.
• Responsible for proper quality assurance and quality control on projects in accordance with ECT’s Quality Program to ensure projects meet company, industry, and client standards and expectations.
• Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Supervising Engineer or Project Manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  
  

QUAIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-education experience using Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation.
• Highly familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods, and techniques, including familiarity with implementation of client-required drawing standards.
• Useful Knowledge of three-dimensional surfaces,
• Ability to produce alignments, stationing, creation of cross sections utilizing LIDAR data produced TIN, plans sheets and their set up, sheet set manager. Scaling sheets, cutting sheets, utilization of blocks as design elements.
• Sound interpersonal communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  
  

PREFERED QUAILIFICATIONS

• An associate degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
• 5 Years Experience using AutoCADD Civil 3D. Draft design concepts working from limited or general information provided by a professional engineer, or supervisor.
• Correlate, interpret, and modify data to bridge gaps that occur when working with limited or general information.
• Masterfully apply AutoCADD Civil 3D software for design.
• Production expedition methods
• Review data received by engineers and analyze the information to determine compliance with standards and design concepts.
• Understand and develop designs from field notes.
• Reproduce drawing and document packages to fulfill contractual obligations.
• Upload, access, store, and retrieve data in accordance with Company policy.
• Submit work for quality review on time and in a complete format.
  
  

Education And Experience

• Completion of full-time or part-time technical program in Civil Drafting/Design or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of progressive drafting experience.
• Knowledge and experience with preferably Auto CAD Civil 3-D, MicroStation is a plus, in an engineering consulting environment.
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable MVR.
