CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Summary
Serves as a resource to the business unit and is responsible for using the CADD and drafting system to produce finished drawings or worksheets from the field and/or office data.
Essential Functions
• Performs calculations required to produce the information for maps and
drawings to be completed by the draftsperson or to produce finished work.
• Prepares layouts, drawings, and designs from detailed sketches and/
or drawings made by technicians, designers, or technical professionals,
converting paper documents into computerized files.
• Maintains an accurate system of filing calculations so that they
may be easily identified and recalled for reference.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of problem areas regarding field
information so that appropriate measures may be taken or considered.
• Routinely communicates with principals, engineers,
information technology managers, and surveying.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
• Must be a self-starter.
• Valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
• A.S. in AutoCAD or related field.
• 0-2 years of experience.
