Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. We are a reputable dry utility consulting firm seeking qualified Drafters for our office in San Ramon.
Our comprehensive design services include planning, estimating, joint trench, street lighting and fiber optic design. You will be involved in all phases of the design process. Our Drafters must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to deal tactfully and effectively with builders, consultants, contractors, representatives of other agencies, and co-workers. Must work well under pressure and be proficient with all types of office machines: Plotters, printers, scanners, and faxes. Be able to cross-platform file formats from AutoCAD to Word, Excel, JPEG, and PDF files.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of experience with AutoCAD in the Civil, Architectural and/or Electrical field is preferred
1-2 years of project coordination experience is preferred.
Experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook Express preferred.
Self-driven, detail-oriented, responsible, and must be able to work well in a team environment.
The ability to professionally represent the firm in client settings, and with our vendors and contractors.
TYPICAL DRAFTING/PROJECT ASSISTANT DUTIES INCLUDE:
Assist project managers on projects from start to finish
Prepare Excel spreadsheets and Word Documents
Submit Applications to the various agencies
Coordination of Utility companies’ responsibilities in the design process
Design/Drafting of the project plan sets
Implementing our firms standard into the design
Prepare equipment schedules
