    Opportunity


    With minimal supervision this position will provide extensive application of engineering science and experience to resolve critical product issues, and / or create technical systems that provide advanced ability to test and validate product. Position will perform a variety of specialized and complex tests on engines (diesel and gaseous), generators. and components to determine performance. This position will recommend design changes / improvements and provide technical direction to others.

    RESPONSIBILITIE


    • Develop technical applications that support validation / investigation for new product, design issues, improvement, and cost reductions.
    • Lead, set-up, and conduct diverse and complex mechanical tests using a variety of electrical and mechanical test equipment and techniques.
    • Perform complex troubleshooting to achieve root cause analysis, and problem resolution for test systems / product.
    • Assemble, disassemble, measure, and inspect complete engines, subassemblies, and engine components.
    • Perform initial engine calibration for start-up of test units / modify calibrations as directed by engineering to complete complex testing.
    • Recommend design change and experiments / diagnostic tests, as required to determine solutions / improvement.
    • Develops test processes / procedures to improve results and efficiency of product testing. Develop documentation in support of new methods.
    • Develop and create system schematics independently utilizing available software (AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio).
    • May assist in the hardware design and assembly of Data Acquisition and load control systems for Test Lab systems.
    • Assist in initiating capital projects, whitepapers and ACTs related to Test Lab.
    • Manage test equipment calibration and maintenance to ensure test data is accurate and consistent.
    • Drives continuous improvement related to the Labs, test processes, methods, and systems.
    • Provide strong individual contributions to achieve team goals.
    • Provide technical leadership; primary advisor for questions / concerns involving test techniques, test equipment and test results.
    • Develop necessary timelines, schedules and plans to support workflow and efficiency.
    • Utilize initiative and independent judgment to lead the evaluation of Engineering NPD, as well as competitor analysis.
    • Demonstrate responsibility through thoroughness, timeliness, and accuracy of work.
    • Lead, train, and oversee lower-level Technicians.
    • Ability to speak and write effectively to convey information, express opinions, and motivate others to act.
    • Utilizes necessary fabrication tools to make complex modifications, conceives components, and generates complex geometry as specified by Engineering. Has the ability to design and layout new components as necessary.  

    Skills/Requirements

    • Two-year technology related associate degree and/or ten years of Industry related work experience preferred.
    • A relatable knowledge of Engine theory and AC/DC circuits required, must have a solid understanding of electrical systems, generators and engines.
    • A minimum of 10 years previous experience or on the job training testing engines and / or generators.
    • Ability to develop and present information.
    • Excellent soft skills, with proven ability to develop and grow relationships to positively influence the role.
    • A good understanding of data acquisition systems, hardware / software, and LabView.
    • Innovative thinker comfortable to make decisions and take risk.

    Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

    The hourly range for this position is $33.40 - $41.75. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
