Campus Police Officer conduct patrols on campus to ensure security of buildings, students and staff. Responds to requests for assistance and emergencies. Being a Campus Police Officer enforces vehicle and traffic regulations. Investigates crimes. Additionally, Campus Police Officer may conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Typically require associate degree in criminal justice. May require POST(Peace Office Standards and Training) certification. Typically reports to Police Supervisor. The Campus Police Officer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The City of Yuma Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Cadet. Applications will be accepted will be accepted through May 24, 2024. The selected candidate will be sent to an agency-sponsored law enforcement academy.
During the academy the student will receive pay and benefits, to be discussed upon appointment. The cost of the academy will be covered by grants.
Upon successful completion of the academy and Colorado POST certification test, the cadet will be sworn in as a certified officer with the Yuma Police Department. At that point, the candidate's wages will be adjusted to a certified officer salary of $24.03 per hour.
The following are the qualifications and testing required as part of the application process.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
Have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a
Have a clean driving record/criminal history.
Being bilingual is a plus. The hiring process includes, but is not limited to a written exam, oral board interview, psychological evaluation, CVSA, and medical exam with drug screening.
