Campus Police Supervisor leads the investigation and apprehension of campus criminals. Protects life and property safety on campus. Being a Campus Police Supervisor ensures compliance with state laws, city ordinances, and university regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Campus Police Supervisor requires P. O.S.T. certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Campus Police Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. To be a Campus Police Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Examples of Duties:

    A police officer shall be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, and the apprehension of criminals:

    • A police officer is responsible for the detection, prevention, and suppression of crime (e.g., proactive policing, etc.);
    • A police officer shall also be responsible for performing clerical duties as assigned by proper authority; and
    • A police officer shall ensure that all required forms, logs, etc., that are created by the officer are properly completed.

    A police officer shall assume any other duties and responsibilities, which may be delegated by a superior officer or an entity with authority within the department.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Possess a valid Driver's License
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
    • U. S. Citizen
    • No felony convictions

    Requirements:

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal authorization to work in the country
    • High school diploma or equivalent (some agencies may require additional education)
    • Completion of a certified police academy training program
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
    • Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, including criminal history check
    • Ability to meet agency-specific physical agility requirements
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    Skills:

    • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certification
    • First aid knowledge to provide immediate medical assistance when needed
    • Loss prevention techniques to identify and prevent theft or property damage
    • Strong driving skills to safely operate police vehicles in various conditions
    • Conflict management skills to de-escalate tense situations and resolve disputes peacefully
    • Animal care knowledge to handle animals encountered during duty
    • Proficient in law enforcement procedures, protocols, and techniques
    • Surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities and gather evidence
    • Familiarity with militarized equipment and tactics for high-risk situations
