Fiscal Technician, Student Union and Career Services

  • Student Engagement and Inclusion (SEI) is looking for an experienced fiscal technician to support the Student Union and Career Services with their fiscal needs. This position would want to have knowledge of cash handling, receipt, and deposit procedures. Knowledge of bank transactions and cash control methods. Knowledge of purchasing or general accounting. Knowledge of collection and refund procedures. Intermediate computer software knowledge including spreadsheet and database applications, word processing, website navigation, and the Banner Finance System. Knowledge of basic contracts. Clerical and office management skills. Written and oral correspondence skills. Confidentiality, time management, and extensive organizational and attention to detail skills. Skills in research (internet and other) and databases. Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office; specifically Excel and Word. Proficient in Adobe Systems; specifically Foxit, Reader and Acrobat Pro.

    Ability to operate a "Point of Sale" system and other general office equipment. Ability to multitask and prioritize projects; establish and maintain files and record-keeping systems; and work independently as well as work in a team environment. Ability to analyze situations and solve problems independently. Ability to establish effective working relationships while maintaining high ethical standards. Ability to learn and apply University fiscal, purchasing, and travel policies, rules, and regulations.

    Budget management experience is needed, including accounting principles and budget forecasts. Advanced computer skills to perform word processing, spreadsheet and database management, and website maintenance. Demonstrated educational and professional knowledge and training in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously by organizing priorities and maintaining confidentiality. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and problem-solving. Ability to interact with students, staff, faculty, and the general public.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Associate’s degree in applied Accounting or related field and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Position Details:

    This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
