Job DescriptionIs the third working level in the engineering series. Incumbents routinely lead complex engineering projects. This role has no direct reports.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO

- Coordinates/develops prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project. This includes designs, calculations, layouts, schematics, manuals, bid specs, etc.
- Establishes Project Team, facilitates and documents Project team meetings.

- Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification
- Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.
- Assists, as necessary, in the interview process of candidates for filling openings within the department.

- Completes Project Closeout and Postmortem Analysis for appropriate projects.

- Leads efforts to secure and maintain knowledge of current industry practices for the department as they may apply to Amcor Products and equipment.
- Leads mid to large scale project installations, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.

- Mechanical
- Conceptualizes, creates, and plans designs for mechanical systems.
- Develop testing processes and performs testing and validation of mechanical designs and systems.
- Performs engineering calculations to support design and mechanical engineering work
- Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing computer software
- Electrical
- Conceptualizes, creates, and plans designs for electrical systems.
- Develop testing processes and performs testing and validations of electrical designs and systems.
- Performs engineering calculations to support design and electrical engineering work
- Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing computer software
- Industrial
- Conducts studies for large-scale projects pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. Based on these studies, develops and implements optimized product flow.
- Responsible for validating IE requirements for large-scale projects with multiple automation integrators and verifies that automation solution/proposals aligned with business strategies using Just-In-Time/Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Collects/Analyzes data for large-scale projects and works with the IPT to validate current state processes/flows to establish an accurate model of the operation of a system. Establishes Discrete Event Simulation (DES) baseline for large-scale projects and collaborates with the IPT to propose/validate future automation solutions that improve cycle time, WIP, bottlenecks, throughput, capacity, resource utilization, and production rate changes of complex production systems.
- Automation
- Investigates and conceptualizes new automation solutions to solve manufacturing issues. Automation solutions can include (industrial robotics, AGVs/AMRs, cobots, right-sized automation, inspection systems, etc.)
- Performs testing and validation of automation systems.
- Performs testing and validation of mid-scale automation systems.
- Reviews technical drawings, plans, proposals, RFQs, RFQ responses, and specifications for mid-scale automation work.
- Estimates, develops, and deploys mid-scale automation technology solutions.
- IoT
- Creates, and plans designs for data collection and analysis, SPC, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Performs testing and validation of IoT systems.
- Develops and deploys IoT technology solution to the business.
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field
- 6 years' experience
- Amcor or similar flexible packaging engineering project experience
- Above average performance
- 30% travel requirement
